I hope you are all having a peaceful and joyful Christmas x

Sunday 20 December 2015

I have been quietly weaving away on the odd moments this week - amidst the general busyness of Christmas.....It is so relaxing to sit at my loom.  I can't think why I have waited so long in life to find this!! I spent the day on Thursday at our monthly stitch group....weaving and chatting all day .... heaven!  I have just finished off the turquoise scarf and put it in my Etsy shop.  It's beginning to look more 'shop like' now there are four pieces in.  This latest piece is hopefully going to be part of my next coat - so a lot of planning ahead!  Talking of planning - it is Christmas this week- so I wish all of you a very happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year...not sure mine will be 'peaceful' but you know what I mean!!  I am now off to out carol service .........

Ive spent the last hour trying to find my photos on the laptop....just when I think Ive cracked this technological wonder....things change (or they seem to) and I have to start learning all over again!  Oh well, it must be good for the little grey cells!  Anyway - back to creativity - I haven't done much weaving this week, but I am really liking the slow pace of doing a whole length of tapestry weave, which will become part of my next coat.  I put my headphones on - music on - and I am transported to another world...a good way to spend these dark winter days (not long now till the shortest day....yipee!!) I decided to add a photo of gorgeous flowers taken in the Caribbean last summer - just to make me feel better!!  Enjoy your week x

Sunday 6 December 2015

Finally I am starting a new coat.  I'm not going to rush this one but plan to savour the weaving process.  It is going to be based on the Arts and Crafts movement (in theory) and a lot of the weaving will be in tapestry style - so will take ages!  Every time I look at the loom, it feels as though it is an artist's ease.l....!!  Well, it keeps me happy.  Today a group of us demonstrated spinning/weaving at a local heritage working museum.  It's a fascinating place and brilliant to see some of the traditional crafts in action....there is also a steam train, together with old buses, steam roller traction engines etc.  A real trip into history......
