Have had a great couple of days at the East Sussex Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers' bi-ennial exhibition in Lewes. We were all looked after so well, and those of us who had stands were brought coffee and biscuits in the morning and afternoon...plus there were really good lunches to choose from! I love textile people and am still on a high after all those good conversations but I must now get to work and produce more for the next event...(whenever that may be!!)

Don't know what happened to yesterday's entry...I thinkI must have had a brainstorm! Anyway, had a great day at Lewes yesterday, and am looking forward to another one today. I so enjoy meeting people who share my love of textiles!

Here's Becky modelling a wearable art creation!I plan to give more thought to wearable art during the winter and maybe try to plan something to actually wear!!

We had a great day in Brighton this week and , amongst other things, we visited Sea Life. What amazing shapes and colours...I particularly liked the lion fish and can feel a design coming on after looking at them!!

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

We've had some really good painting sessions this week. I love to watch the young ones develop....and I enjoy being a kid myself. Splashing around for the pure fun of it! Today I'm off to Gatwick to meet my friend..can't wait because we always have such good times together and share our interest in all things creative. Then tomorrow we go to help set up for the Lewes exhibition....

Haven't had much (any) free time recently although I have taken some photos in Brighton today..will show you later. Meanwhile you are being treated to a visual treat....The Crosthwaite Girls!!

Sunday today......so off to church..and then a curry!!

Saturday, 22 October 2011

Everything is now ready for half term week and the Guild exhibition. It's such a good feeling to have all preparations done...I even spent the whole of yesterday on domestics...cleaning, washing shopping, cooking etc. etc. My halo feels rather large this morning! Anyway, the autumn sun is shining once again so I am off out for my walk now..making the most of it! I then propose to spend the coming week enjoying family, friends and general recreation!

One last practise run before next week. I have since painted the shelves and I think they look good. I have decided that my sales table will consist of materials for others to use in their own creative pursuits. Finished items will be displayed on my famous coat stand (which incidentally I am also in the middle of painting) Once I get a brush in my hand nothing is safe..in fact this morning I have already painted more shelves, half a coat stand and a back door; it's only 9.0 am and I am still in my dressing gown!! The dogs are getting impatient for their walk, so I must go....

Thursday, 20 October 2011

I've put these photos on today because I just felt like it!! Have been generally pottering around this week (after a great weekend away)> Getting ready for the Lewes exhibition and ready for seeing family and friends over half term. Yesterday I picked up a couple of good cupboard units in the local charity shop...so I am now painting them....The sun is still shining and all the leaves are beginning to look a glorious burnt orange....

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

I'm having trouble with my photo file...so can't put any pictures on here. I must ring the helpline today!!

Thursday, 13 October 2011

The sun is shining today so I am going to make the most of being outside and doing the things I love the most..........this weekend we re away to a family birthday party...it will be great to see everyone again..and the sun is going to shine!!
I love living by the sea...........

There's an online sketchbook challenge with the theme 'unfurled'. I'm thinking roses. Not sure yet what I am going to do about it, but I'm sure something will emerge!

I've been enjoying working on my sketchbooks recently...have just bought some acrylic wax, which is great. Gives a lovely matt/varnished finish and makes the paper so soft....and a good surface for stitching into. Gosh! There are so many things I want to do...and not enough time.....

Tuesday, 11 October 2011

There's something rather special about handspun yarn. Ok, it takes for ever, but I find the slow rhythm of the spinning wheel very therapeutic!

Monday, 10 October 2011

More practice displays..
couldn't resist taking the picture of a shop on St. Pancras Station! I thought it looked so inviting and rural ...

Saturday, 8 October 2011

I can't seem to keep up with the request for more gloves......they are fun to knit and I usually knit the flowers whilst on train journeys! It's so good to have comments from people when they see me knitting! What a great way to make friends!

Friday, 7 October 2011

I couldn't resist taking a photo of these gorgeous vegetables.....pumpkins = Halloween...so autumn has really kicked in. When I go walking I love to feel the crunch of acorns, and crispy golden leaves underfoot. Although the weather is colder now, it has its compensations!

Thursday, 6 October 2011

I spent some time yesterday planning my limited space for the Exhibition. It is so difficult to display textiles, because they can so easily end up looking like a jumble sale!! Anyway, I have a better idea now of what I shall do...and of course I shall have my good old coat stand with me!
The weather has changed (sadly) so the bright colours helped to cheer up an otherwise dull day. This morning I shall wrap up, put my boots on, and head off to the woods with the 'girls'!

Wednesday, 5 October 2011

Today I am going to line and finish off my latest bags ready for the Lewes Exhibition at the end of the month. I can't believe it's October already, so I must get my skates on!!

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

For some reason I love edges...I'm not sure what it is that fascinates me but it could be something to do with 'looking through'...a bit like looking at a pathway and wondering where it will lead.......I also like to see things en masse..piled high or put together in some way. Like looking at the fruit in a greengrocers, or flowers in a flower shop. It's always disappointing to buy some flowers, then when you get home they look rather sad on their own!! Anyway, here are some of my edges of sketch books, felt and gloves.
