You're probably getting fed up with seeing flowers on my blog, but I simply can't help myself!!  Flowers are everywhere at the moment and my head is full of them!!  That was illustrated yesterday.....I spent a couple of hours listening on the radio to a big football match at Wembley.  Derby County were playing and my two sons had made the trek to London to see the game.  It was very nail biting and Derby seemed to have control of the ball most of the time.  And....then...in the 90th minute (would you believe) the opposition scored........!  I was so gutted I marched out in to my art shed and splashed paint for 20 minutes, and this is the result!  I wasn't even thinking about flowers - so they must be firmly embedded in my subconscious!!!

More fun and flowers.  I collaged another folder in readiness for a paper workshop.  The good thing working with paper is that a lot of the materials are recyclable  and cheap.  It's also quick and easy - so that's why I'm practising working quickly in order to encourage my students to achieve a lot in a short class!  We shall see......

I'm generally enjoying flowers, painting and the great outdoors!   So much inspiration everywhere....on the creative front I am giving myself some space to decide 'what next'.  I have just finished a tapestry weaving and although I am always mildly disappointed with the results....I love the slow, meditative process.  Normally I work very quickly and spontaneously, so it is good for me to take time....and think...I am wondering if I can push this on somehow, as a background to my other creative activities?  Not sure yet.  In the meantime I continue to spin and dye and accumulate a good stock of yarns in readiness for the winter.  Have a good day (gorgeous sun here at the moment!) x

This morning's dog walk (and swim) was  fantastic....not a breath of wind and soooo warm.  Yippee - summer's here again!  I can't keep George (retriever) out of the water  - she is drawn to it like a moth to a light!!  Jazmine got more than she bargained for.  I think she thought she was going to dip her toe in, but the beach must have had a deep slope because she was soon out of her depth and swimming for England!  Very happy dogs and humans !

As you can see we had a very busy day at the Embroiderers Guild on Tuesday........sometimes all the hard work just becomes too much!!!  Seriously though, it was a great day of making and chatting.....and of course sampling the delicious desserts that our brilliant committee put on for us!

Sunday 11 May 2014

I had a burst of enthusiasm yesterday! Having been asked to do a short workshop on art journalling, with the theme of flowers, I decided to go for it without too much thought....I based my page on a photo of tulips taken earlier in the year....gathered stuff around me in the appropriate colours - and then played for about an hour.  Good discipline for me, and I hope to enthuse others.  Have a good day everyone.....I'm off to the Brighton Art Trail today which should be fun!

Tuesday 6 May 2014

On today's dog walks I decided to stop and really look at the wild flowers .... they were all so unassuming, and yet absolutely beautiful.  To me, flowers are a never-ending source of inspiration.  And to be able to capture them on my phone camera is a real bonus.  Talking of my phone - it has been great for everything except for actual phone calls, which continually disconnected!!  Anyhow today I made the effort to go to the Apple shop in Brighton, where I was presented with a brand new phone.  Good old Apple - you can't get much fairer than that can you??
