Today I am going to discuss my weaving ideas with a professional weaver.  I am hoping to be pointed in a direction that I can focus on in the coming months.....as you can see, Jazmine is considering whether or not this is a good idea!!

We had a massive storm yesterday resulting in lots of floods.  Worthing even made the National news.  Here are pictures of our local park, where the kids usually play football!!  It did look rather gorgeous though - apparently the park was created on top of what used to be a lake........no comment!!!

Jaz and I enjoy our summer evening strolls down the road!

Clearly I'm continuing with my red theme.....it's unusual for me to be into 'reds' at this time of year.....this normally happens in mid-winter.  Hey ho- everything is topsy turvey!!  Still, I have enjoyed dyeing in my little art shed this week - my yarn stash is growing......

It's certainly a red hot summer and I think these flowers at the Prairie Gardens say it all!  We are now approaching what some people call "the silly season" when all regular activities come to a halt......I find it gives me the space to reflect and look forward to the next year  (I still function in the 'academic' year!)  I am planning to start a monthly group to bring like-minded people together .....hopefully we shall be able to share our enthusiasms and learn new techniques.  I have decided to call it 'Make' - we shall see what happens......have a good day x

I think I have been influenced by the colours of the sea this week!..Always inspirational.  By the way - if you're wondering, I am spinning silk...it's luscious!

I found a new teashop to add to my list yesterday....it was fascinating...and the cake was extremely good as well!  I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to a local town on a glorious, sunny day.  Wow...how I love summer!  You may have noticed that I don't blog as regularly as I used to.  Facebook seems to have taken over, which is a bit of a pity really.  On the other hand it is a good, quick way of keeping in  touch.  Perhaps it's a bit like real books....reading on the Kindle seems to be replacing the good old paper editions.  Maybe blogs will soon be outmoded.  I hope not - so I shall continue mine!

I have been so inspired by my visits to gardens this summer that flowers seem to keep appearing in my creative brain......I seem to be moving more in the direction of painting and weaving and am continuing to explore possibilities of combining the two.  I'm quite sure I shall continue to knit, particularly in the winter, but have decided to put my energies in a slightly new direction for one year and see what happens!!  Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received.  Have a good day x

I had a good dyeing day on Monday.....fleece , silk and wool yarns.  My stash is growing for winter work.....

Monday, 7 July 2014

I went to the Prairie Gardens again the other day.  There are some absolutely fantastic plants as you can see.  There is also a very good tea shop with excellent cakes.  I'm stashing all these pictures away so one day I will hopefully have some massive inspiration to create something amazing....(not sure what yet!!!)  Meanwhile I'm still enjoying the summer, but still missing George.....
