As you can see my art palace is being put to very good use.   I love it and spend many happy hours pottering around in it.  I have also set up my little 'cucina' where I can steam and dye.  It's in a very sheltered corner of the garden and works well.  Today I'm back to Bexhill and will enjoy seeing my friends at the old knitting group.  I must remember to take some knitting with me in case we get a chance to knit!!  Probably be too busy nattering and eating cake!

I love the old Sussex buildings and a visit to our local tea rooms on Saturday reminded me how attractive they are.  The bottom picture shows an old house tucked away at the bottom of our road.  I wonder about its history?  Love to imagine who lived there etc. etc.  Have a good day.

 

One of the reasons I love to work with textiles is the variety of things to make and do.......I am also now in the process of trying to bring everything together in order to put on displays in various exhibitions etc.  I always struggle with this because it is so easy for things to end up looking like  a jumble sale!!  Also I am a big believer in recognising the tactile element....when I go to shows it is so difficult not to be able to touch things!!  I really don't mind if people touch.....so therefore I need to make sure everything is easily accessible.  Not sure if I'll ever get it right, but I keep trying!!  Enjoy the sunshine x

Fares please!  My local bus stop.  I still get a thrill getting off the bus and thinking I actually live here.  Being brought up in London seems to have given me a huge appreciation of open spaces, although as you may have read on my blog last week, I also love London. Guess I'm just split in two!! Have a good day x

This is me at my happiest.....striding on top of the Downs with my dogs and family.   What a brilliant place to live.....not much time this morning as I'm off to the South of England Show to demonstrate spinning.  My picnic is ready and the sun is shining - so should be a good day x 

Spinning, dyeing and feltmaking were all happening yesterday......I'm definitely on a roll.....my art palace is fantastic and is now in constant use - even though I haven't painted it properly yet.  Last night was choir singing.  We are doing some extremely difficult pieces, including a new work (composed by our leader) which is dedicated to the history of Worthing - to be played during the Worthing Arts Festival.  I am also supposed to be taking part in the Open Houses and a textile event.  I'm trying to keep calm...still having some nosebleeds, but not so bad - so fingers crossed!!

Is it a coincidence or am I subconsciously working with the colours that surround me?  I dyed this fleece, and took the photos on the beach the same day last week. I find this happens time and time again....although I'm not sure where my craving for red comes in the winter.    Maybe the berries......!!
