What a glorious shop window......I took the photo some time ago but I think it's a shop in London's Covent Garden (we used to live around the corner!)  Anyhow, talking about London - I am just about to whizz off for the London train.  I shall then journey on up to Derbyshire where I shall see my youngest grandchild.  Olivia is 1 year old on Sunday!  For those of you who have read my blog for sometime - it hardly seems possible that a year has gone by since Olivia was born does it?  Time flies.....let's hope as I fly through the countryside, I shall get a chance to do some crochet!!

Another bag just off the production line!  Actually I haven't lined it yet, but the knitting is complete.  Yes - I'm back to knitting....still rather painful on the old left hand...but worth the effort !!  I always enjoy the blues.....a constant reminder that I live by the sea, and live in hope of blue seas and blue skies....!! Jack is improving rapidly so hopefully things will soon be back to normal and my creative juices will once agin flow.....

With the lighter and slightly longer days coming....and the hint of Spring, my thoughts are turning to getting outside and doing some dyeing.  I do love to dye fabrics as well as fibres so yesterday, just to get in the mood, I had a go at knitting up some of my cotton.  I really like it and already my thoughts are racing as to what I could actually make.......I'll let you know.......

Well.......another unexpected happening in my life!!  I have spent most of this week in the children's hospital as my grandson was taken ill last week.  Apart from a high fever he had excruciating pain in his groin.  After lots of tests and a visit to theatre the conclusion (and hope) is that it is probably a mystery virus that has caused the pain.  He came home yesterday so we just hope and pray he continues to improve, if not MRI scans.  In the meantime he is making good mileage out of his crutches!  I have decided to do some spinning today as I find this very calming.......!

I realise that recently I have felt rather uninspired doing my blog.  Normally I love writing it but ever since I fractured my arm I seem to have seized up!!  It may partly also be due to the appalling weather we have had over the last couple of months.....it is quite difficult to take photographs with one functioning arm in gale force winds and torrential rain!!!  So, today I am posting a selection of photos that I have compiled for the forthcoming Brighton Art Trail.  Maybe they will kick start me to get blogging again.   As you have probably gathered, I love colour and so many days recently have been a dullish yellow/grey.  But.....fingers crossed....tomorrow we have been promised some sunshine - yippee!!

I'm not normally fascinated by gravestones, but I must say I was intrigued by this one.  I came across it yesterday while I was out dog walking.  I can't make out whether the marks are a decaying design or whether they are completely natural.   I guess it must be lichen at the bottom. Has anyone any ideas?  Whatever, I thought what an amazing source of inspiration......

Nature provides an endless source of inspiration....my friend sadly had to have her eucalyptus tree cut down the other day.  It had been so battered in the recent storms it had become dangerous....but aren't the logs beautiful?  too good to burn, although I guess a few will end up on our fire....

I may not be allowed to knit at the moment but at least I can amuse myself looking at recent makes.. I have pinned the crochet flowers on to the tea cosy......I think there could be mileage in tea cosy production (!!)

Thursday, 6 February 2014

Well.......I've been banned from knitting for a week because I'm in danger of wrecking my wrist!!  I thought the exercise would do it good but obviously not.  I was wondering why it was hurting so much!!  Not to be daunted, I decided to do some sewing....the cat however was most perturbed and wondered where the wool was!!

I've just done a talk on 'Explosion of colour'......I think this page says it all!!  When I get a lot of my work together to show people, I always think I must be manic...I seem to have produced so much over the years and the trouble is, when I have completed something I usually want to hang on to it, and not sell. I suppose it's because I put so much time and love into my projects, it's a wrench to let them go.  But it does come in useful when I take workshops/demos etc. because I always have lots of samples!!  I'm doing another demo tomorrow....by the way I sold some cards!!

Monday, 3 February 2014

I was in one of my favourite places today .....Chichester.  I love the old buildings and sense of history.  It was good to see signs of Spring which is hopefully just around the corner!!

Sunday, 2 February 2014

I'm all buttoned up........as you can see, I'm back on a roll and I immersed myself in buttons the other day.  I have added a few to my small exhibition in our local library.  I wonder if they will provoke any comments?  We shall see. I've been swimming like crazy - am doing some part time work - and have today driven (!!) up to the Downs for a glorious, sunny dog walk.  Mind you, I frequently clutch on to my arm to keep it safe...but on the whole things are progressing nicely!!  Have a good day x

From fleece to flower in  2 hours!  I really enjoyed myself yesterday afternoon and decided to play.....so....I carded and then spun some fleece and then crocheted this flower.  I haven't got quite enough yarn to finish, so must do some more spinning.  Of course this is the reason that I never run out of wool.  I have bags of fleece, so I just spin.  It takes a long time, but I like to have an everlasting supply!
